These terms govern your use of Pearls, an iPhone app published by Fellow Medical LLC. By using the app, you agree to them.
Pearls is an educational tool for people training in medicine. It does not provide medical advice, and nothing it produces should be used to make decisions about the care of any patient.
The app uses artificial intelligence to organize and summarize what you dictate. Like any such system, it can be wrong, incomplete, or out of date. You are responsible for verifying anything clinical against current, authoritative sources and your own professional judgment before relying on it.
Notes generated by Pearls are a record of your own learning, not a substitute for guidelines, textbooks, supervision, or the standards of your training program.
Do not use Pearls to store patient records, and do not dictate information that identifies a patient. The app removes identifiers it detects before sending text for processing, but that process is automatic and cannot be guaranteed to catch everything.
You are responsible for complying with your institution's policies, your training program's rules, and any laws that apply to you, including those governing patient privacy. If your institution restricts the use of applications like this one, those restrictions take precedence over anything here.
Everything you write and record in Pearls is yours. We claim no ownership of it and no right to use it. We do not have access to it, and we do not use it to train artificial intelligence models.
You are responsible for keeping your own copies of anything you would not want to lose. Pearls provides export and backup tools for that purpose. See our Privacy Policy for how your information is handled.
Pearls offers auto-renewing subscriptions, purchased through the App Store:
Current prices are shown in the app before you purchase, in your local currency. New subscribers receive a free trial; the length and terms are shown on the purchase screen. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, the subscription begins and your Apple ID is charged.
Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your Apple ID is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the period ending.
You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in Settings on your iPhone, under your Apple ID, in Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Refunds are handled by Apple under their policies; we cannot issue them.
You keep access to everything you have written. You can still open the app, read every note and case, and export all of it. What stops working are the features that require artificial intelligence: recording and processing new dictations, generating quizzes and flashcards, and the assistant.
Each subscription includes a monthly allowance for artificial intelligence usage, generous enough that ordinary use will not reach it. It exists to prevent misuse and runaway automated usage. If you reach it, the app will tell you and the allowance resets at the start of the next month.
You agree not to use the app in an automated way, to attempt to circumvent these limits, or to resell or redistribute access.
We aim to keep Pearls working, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Features that rely on artificial intelligence depend on services we do not control and may be temporarily unavailable. Your notes remain readable on your device regardless.
Pearls is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the app will be error-free, that its output will be accurate, or that it will meet your requirements.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Fellow Medical LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of Pearls, including loss of data or loss of academic or professional opportunity. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
You may stop using Pearls at any time and delete your data from within the app. We may suspend access if the app is used in a way that violates these terms or that threatens the service for other users.
We may update these terms. If a change is material, we will update this page and the effective date above. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
